Hello hello...
I've made a summary of my lessons about Conquistadores. Maybe it's a little confused, I hope that it can be useful ^^

First, a little intro...

The Europeans use many products coming from Asia. However, these products pass in transit through the Muslim world. Furthermore, they try to export the Christianity on new lands (In this period, the Turks Ottomans rise in power, and it represents a threat)
Then, Europeans want to “conquer” the world. The technical progress permits to facilitate the task : invention of the caravel, the “astrolabe” (a compass). These trips also permit to accumulate knowledge to write more precise maps.

The Portuguese and the Spaniards (the most interesting part):
In Portugal, king Henri finances the expeditions. The Portuguese sailors go to India (Vasco de Gama in 1498)
Spain can travel at the same moment of its unification ( 1492 , just after "the Reconquista", when Christopher Columbus discovers the Carribbean islands).
Landing in the West Indies, the Europeans are intrigued by the Indians. They want to exploit the richness of the New World and show their military superiority.
Between 1518 and 1521, the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez destroys the Aztec Empire of Mexico with only one thousand soldiers. He becomes then the governor general of Mexico, called New Spain.
Between 1531 and 1535, Francisco Pizarro destroys the Inca empire with Diego de Almagro. (Having made Almagro strangle in 1538, he is killed by the partisans of his rival) The natives have to work in goldmines, they become slaves...

About the lyrics :

*Grijalva is a Conquistador too. He went to Hispaniola in 1508 and to Cuba in 1511...
*Moctezuma refers to Moctezuma II, the ninth Aztec Emperor.
*Quetzalcoatl (feathered serpent) is a Mesoamerican deity. During the landing of Cortés in 1519, the Aztec emperor Moctezuma II believed first of all that it was the return of Quetzalcoatl, and the conquistador used this faith in his conquest of Mexico.
*Toltecs are the “descendants” of the Aztecs
*”The gods of paganism will be demolished in time” : the Conquistadores want the natives to become christian.
*"The ships were already at sea, the path of retreat has been cut off "
The Conquistadores are so confident that they destroy their boats. For them, either they manage to conquer the empires Aztecs and the others, or they die killing by the natives. They thus have no means of return.

Whoa, thanks a lot ^^ I used to learn it, but it was few years ago (too early for such kids =='''), but I don't remember it at all, furthermore, we, little kids, just couldn't understand some things (since we didn't know other history >>)

So thanks ^^ Really thanks =3

Wow that's really good.

I'm not sure, but there's another hystorical reference that appears in the lyrics of Conquistadores.
In the beginning, it is said that a crimson falling star appeared in the sky, and Moctezuma didn't know how to interpretate that phenomenon.
In history, it is known that there were some different omens before the conquistadores arrived. One of them was this shooting star.

Just a comment....

There was two conquers named Pizarro.
One conquered the Incas and the other one fought with Cortés in Mexico. The most famous is, off course, the one that conquered the Incas in Peru.

I, particulary, think that the one who Revo talked about is the one that was in Mexico with Cortés. That makes a connection between them 3. 'Cause, when you think about Mexico - Peru - Cuba, well, don't have any connection between them.

Oh, and Grijalva sailed across a river discovering the Mexican state of Tabasco. He named this river "Río Grijalva" ("Grijalva River"), and sailing across it, he discovered the Península of Yucatán (Um...in fact I don't remember if the one who knew about the Spanish castaways in the Península was him or Cortés...).

And Grijalva discovered the state of Veracruz, too. He arrived in the day of his Saint (San Juan/Saint John) to a little island where the Totonacs offered sacrifices. When he asked where was there, the Totonacs didn't understand him, so they tried to told them that they were making offerings to the Kulúas, because they were ruled by them, and the Kulúas were ruled by the Aztecs. Naturally, they only repeated the word "Kulúas, Kulúas". Grijalva thought that they were saying the name of the place, he drestoyed the little temple and founded a City ("Villa Rica de la Verdadera (Then shorted to "Vera") Cruz") in the land. Then, in thelittle island, he built la Fortaleza de San Juan de Ulúa (the Fort of Saint John of Ulúa), that later become in storage, fort, jail and now is a beautiful touristic attraction (well, not at all....)

In fact, the Toltecs were before the Aztecs. They founded various cities, but the well-known is Tula. For some reason (I don't remember why) they had to leave their cities, and arrived to the Península of Yucatán, where they mixed with the Mayan.

In fact, the only "confident" was Cortés...when they arrived to Vera-Cruz, (I think was him and no Grijalva who founded this city, I'm sorry if mix the facts and dates), he was afraid his men would retreat, so he burned down the ships. The Spanish couldn't scape and then, they made the alliance with the Fat Cacique of Zempoala (XD)and...the rest is History.

If I'm wrong in something, I apologise!

NEKO NO GIN.

I can't say if you are wrong, I'm wrong too ! xD Arf, my history lessons aren't as perfect as I thought... But thank you NEKO NO GIN and Bayu, it's more clearly like this. If you have another thing to precise don't hesitate : "the History doesn't have to be changed!" (Ouah... beautiful x3)
I saw there was two Pizarro, but I didn't want to speak about a thing I didn't know. About the Toltecs, I have just seen I did a mistake!!! (Ascendant or descendant... I always mistake... Me ? Scatterbrained ? No... Never...)

About what will be the 8th Horizon, we can just make speculation.
For Idolfreed, he is linked to Conquistadores because he is a friend (or something like that) of Hernan Cortés (or at least, he knows him). We know that thanks to the part where we can hear him speak in Garasu no hitsugi (from Märchen).
And Revo sang Conquistadores several times dressed as Idolfreed during the Live Tour, so...

The prevalent theory is that Idolfried was Cortés's navigator.

Which is cute because Idolfried asks to be called Ido.

Id the navigator.
