My only problem with the Märchen DVD is the CGI. I wish there was an option to turn it off; I'd rather see the stage than the giant face of a badly-made CGI doll. I'll admit some were nice (I particularily like making the beginning of Aoki Hakushaku in black and white) but for the most part the effects clutter up the screen and detract from the concert.

Here I thought they were making links to older songs. While not outright picking them up, it's as simple as the melody from an old song playing to link it to a new (the most common example being Lafrenze's melody in Bara no Tou). I don't think it's possible to make a 'bigger story', as everything already is one massive story, with many facets and stories within itself.

You make a good point there. Now I'm actually kinda glad that I didn't get the DVD (I was on pre-order then the site bumped me off the list :P). It's nice to see it like a play, but the extra effects such as in the end of Takkei no Seijo where Mar leaves Elize it had too much effect there. It's okay if you want a movie, but I want footage as if I was going to the concert. Isn't that the purpose of the DVDs?

I didn't make a whole lot of sense... I meant that to extend the individual songs, like how they did in Roman, Bara no Tou, and Kuroki Okami.

yeah with the marchen effect, the trailor looked so good it gave me chills when "seben sechs funf vier drei zwei eins los" happened. And how revo pointed at each of the maidens, but the stupid effect got in the way in the actual DVD that it didn't have the same effect.
Also, my heart sank at the beginning of yoiyami no uta when it was using recorded material, but I can see why they did it since the stage had to be set up.

About the dropped vocalist... (lol, why did I dig this up?)

I know that Kanami Ayano make a great replacement, but I still miss Endo Mari.
Even though most of her performance is a bit exaggerated(tho, that's why it make her looks great, sometimes) and some doesn't in-synch with other(maybe Shinwa Mythos? the gesture, I mean)

But I think Endo Mari has a mysterious air and aura that is a nice touch to sing some of Aramary's song, which can be seen as an example in her Ori no naka no Yuugi(I really the choice of using Mari for that song), not to mention that she is a great narrator for Elysion, while Kanami is more mother-like, and sweet...(that would make her a better Lydia, I guess?), but I still haven't seen more of her, so it's kinda too fast to judge for me. I'm really really interested to see Kanami's version of Sacrifice.

But funny thing about Harmonia is...
When they sang Shuutan no Ou, the performance kinda split into half stage. The cold-color part with great dancing(Kaori+Yuuki's age and stamina + Mari's powerful moves), and the other, warm-color part with great aura(well, that, I understand, because three of them doesn't look like they're prone to dancing).
And then, Revo has Kanami sing most of Mari's place(I haven't hear it for sure, but I just guess from the position, but evidently, Meiou Thanatos). and with that, Kanami still is a great dancer, lol

But I can still remember MIKI's great dacne in her Queen role in Schneewitten tho

ps. talking about these things reminds me that I should give up my hope on seeing Ayaka Naito on stage... Orz... but then, I suddenly wanna see REMI and Kanami singing Cage Trilogy, or even having a duet for Norowareshi Houseki, lol

I have to agree that I also miss Endou Mari a lot, somehow I just like her x3
Anyway, maybe she'll return later, I don't know.

I think I have less to complain, but there is one thing bothering me: The melody change at parts from the CD to Live (mostly violin parts).
Just like the parts in Hiiro no Fuusha, Kanojo ga Majo ni natta Riyuu, Shiseru Monotach no Monogatari, etc. I mean, I really adore those parts, but sometimes I just don't know which one I like more and I won't be putting the same song two times on my MP3 player just because of one part D:
And at times the singing is better in the live, but I love the original tune on the CD more and so on ...
Especially if I start with one song on CD and that very part is for me personally the recognizing point of the song and then it's played differently in the Live ...

Hehe, sorry if this was too random but sometimes I really can't decide and end up being bothered ^^;

Endou Mari-san, the world needs you ç_ç. I really agree with you on this point !

Well, somehow, this is a thing that I don't like that much about Sanhora, though I understand it. It's hard for me to like a new SH vocalist from the first time I listen to her voice (there's exceptions of course, but generally, we can't see all the talent of a singer with one song. ), but then, when I get used to it and become a fan of her, she leaves immediately xD. I also miss Aramary, and I can't understand why it's like she never existed in SH =x.

Yes, yes, yes. that bothered me a lot too. I imagine Revo used the CGIs to show "what he meant" instead of "what he could", but it takes away the "magic" of the show. I believe some things are better left for our imagination/interpretation. I hope the next DVD won't have as much of it. Not only it's weird, but it breaks the immersion.

On the Mari Endo topic, I'll miss her too, despite not being a great fan of hers. However I found Ayano Kanami's singing and acting fantastic, and was really glad with her inclusion in the cast.

About Mari, really, I don't think she was a great replacement of Ayaka in 'Moira'(Actually my first impression of her was that she played quite a role in messing up the live version of 'Meiou'.)
But her singing skills weren't terrible: I think it's rather that her singing style isn't that very much operatic. Thus, as Lydia and Fye, Ayano fits the role better. However, for some other songs, Mari will be better than Ayano. Not every song of SH is opera, you know.

About the CG in 'Marchen', pretty most of it is cr*ppy, especially the last Elize CG. The front of 'Yoiyami no Uta' would suit as a part of a PV rather than a CG inserted in a live DVD.
I wish SH would reduce the CGs only a bit-after all, the Therese CG in 'Yoiyami no Uta' was quite effective.

The beginning of Yoiyami no uta is what audience are seeing on the screen though. I'd rather have this high-quality version than what is presented on that cloth separating the stage and audience.

Hmm, considering this, I guess the CG at the front of 'Yoiyami no Uta' was quite appropriate, then.
After all, I reeeeeeeeeally liked the CG till the LQ well+forest scenery CG popped out. When I first saw it in 3D, the Therese+Elize CG was kinda chilly, and then the Marchen CG...awwwwww I really loved this CG XDD!!! It made me think that I was looking at a real and extremely hansome German corpse-conductor, and not at a Japanese composer dressed as him! But by this, I don't mean that Revo isn't handsome!

I really liked the yoiyami CG intro (I think they should have done the whole song like that as a PV or something).
I was watching marchen today and noticed a lot of bad bits such as the well. To make it so that you can't see inside the well, it's like they used the brush tool on paint to colour it in and then drag around when the camera moves.
Also when hansel and gretel come on stage, the camera should be able to see past the curtains and off stage, but instead they colour it in with a big patch of black -.-
I think it would be fine if they last left in to be honest..
I really like mari endou, but when she did eru no shouzou, she scared me a bit xD
But she was brilliant with narration and ori no naka no yuugi :D
