My only problem with the Märchen DVD is the CGI. I wish there was an option to turn it off; I'd rather see the stage than the giant face of a badly-made CGI doll. I'll admit some were nice (I particularily like making the beginning of Aoki Hakushaku in black and white) but for the most part the effects clutter up the screen and detract from the concert.
Here I thought they were making links to older songs. While not outright picking them up, it's as simple as the melody from an old song playing to link it to a new (the most common example being Lafrenze's melody in Bara no Tou). I don't think it's possible to make a 'bigger story', as everything already is one massive story, with many facets and stories within itself.
You make a good point there. Now I'm actually kinda glad that I didn't get the DVD (I was on pre-order then the site bumped me off the list

). It's nice to see it like a play, but the extra effects such as in the end of Takkei no Seijo where Mar leaves Elize it had too much effect there. It's okay if you want a movie, but I want footage as if I was going to the concert. Isn't that the purpose of the DVDs?
I didn't make a whole lot of sense... I meant that to extend the individual songs, like how they did in Roman, Bara no Tou, and Kuroki Okami.
Yes, yes, yes. that bothered me a lot too. I imagine Revo used the CGIs to show "what he meant" instead of "what he could", but it takes away the "magic" of the show. I believe some things are better left for our imagination/interpretation. I hope the next DVD won't have as much of it. Not only it's weird, but it breaks the immersion.
On the Mari Endo topic, I'll miss her too, despite not being a great fan of hers. However I found Ayano Kanami's singing and acting fantastic, and was really glad with her inclusion in the cast.
